Letshuoer DX1 In-Ears

The DX-1 is a single driver Dynamic IEM from the Chinese brand Letshuoer retailing at 159 USD, in their
lineup it's situated somewhere between higher entry level low mid-tier IEMS. I had the pleasure to try some
of their offerings at shows in the past and i think they produce some really great Iems like the planar S12
and the absolutely beautiful flagship multiple driver Cadenza 12 model just to name those two.

Unboxing & accessories:

The DX1 comes in a small, beautiful package with silver and gold colours replicating the design of
the faceplates of the IEM. Next to the IEM itself you will find an "ok" cable, a really good selection
of different ear tips and a nice metal round-shaped case. The cable is a braided silver plated copper cable
and is on the thinner side but it feels quiet nice in the hands and doesn't tangle that easy.
There or 2 possible cable terminations when ordering the DX1, you can choose between 3.5mm single ended and
4.4 balanced termination.

Design, Comfort & Build Quality:

The DX1 housing is fully metal and looks like a jewel, a ring that you can wear on a finger, it's on the
heavier side which can lead to issues when it comes to comfort. It looks premium for sure but due to the shinny
finish it is also a fingerprint magnet, so having a microfiber towel ready to clean is not a bad idea.
Other than that the build quality for the price is excellent there is not much to complain here. With the wide
variety of tips that come in the package it should not much difficult to find the right fit, but as already
mentioned above the weight can have an impact on the comfort for certain listeners.

Power Requirements & Pairing:

Not much to say here the DX1 is quite easy to drive so it doesn't require a powerful amp and works fine with
almost any source gear i paired with. One thing to keep in mind is that these are quite sensitive so i
could notice some hiss on certain amplifiers like the Questyle CMA-18p & even more with the Earmen Tube portable
dac/amp L-Amp mk2.

Sound Impressions & Comparison:

The DX1's have a slightly different sound profile as the general IEM's, they go for a mid-centric, mid focused
presentation, the highs are smoothed out, the bass section is not that strong, it's there but
not much in quantity, this is not a bass-head IEM. On the other hand the bass delivery is very
snappy & clean, the midrange is emotionally engaging and natural. Both male & female vocals are portrayed very
accurately without being harsh but in some cases the male vocal sound a bit lean. In fact there is no such
thing as harshness or listening fatigue with these IEMS, but on the other hand there can be a lack of excitement
and engagement.
In terms of comparison in this price range it is a very crowded place to be, i chose 2 other IEMS that i have on hand
that sell around the same price as the DX1, the inhouse competition a planar IEM the S12 Ultra and the Hidizs
Mk12 Turris which also uses a single dynamic driver. And without any hesitation i would prefer both these IEMS
over the DX1, i like the Turris with the red nozzle it sounds lively, energetic and has an impressive bass
performance, while still having a clean and pure sounding midrange. The S12 Ultra has like the DX1 a safer tuned
treble but delivers a fantastic deep and satisfying bass performance and has decent staging and imaging capabilities

Conclusion:

Don't get me wrong the Letshuoer DX1 is not a bad IEM, on the contrary i think it's a technically capable IEM that
has a lot going for it, the tuning however is not enterally to my taste but i can see some listeners gravitation
towards to it. The build quality is excellent & the accessory package is nice for the price. Fit & comfort is a
bit challenging but not a complete miss, so it comes down to whether you like this rather "special" sound signature
or not.
